Sign hanging question- I beam?

Hey guys,

Been real busy with the new job and moving so haven't been around that much. I've got an interesting job where we need to attach a large acrylic sign to the face of an exposed i-beam without perforating the lips or surface. We could use clamps but the flashing would be damaged on top of the I beam and would be a bit ugly on the bottom edge.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you can't drill it and you can't clamp it then the only things left are to glue or weld a bracket to it.

That Architect needs to be fired... how have other tenants complied with these rules? I like Eric's magnet idea... or use huge chrome or red clamps and bracket on the bottom lip only and make it a design element. HA!

There are double sided foam tapes that are built for this purpose. The 3M brand is called VHB and there are other brands available. An architect can help with calculations of strength and very specific installation proceedures.

Bob, I agree. VHB is the way to go. There are many to choose from. Call your 3M rep and they will guide you. We use VHB on a daily basis with a 100% success rate.

Thanks for all the info guys. It is appreciated. We may go for clamps with VHB backup depending on the cost.
