Hello all.
I have searched and reviewed posts related to cutting soft aluminum and, after looking at everything people have posted, and if I dont hear anything different, am planning to move forward from the following starting point.
Air nozzle at point of cut.
.25" single flute up cut end mill
Single pass (horizontal attack from off material)
12k rpm
1 ips (to maybe 1.5)
May put a bit of denatured alcohol or silicon along the cut line and silicone on the bit.
May have to add a screw if the bit pulls the material.
Project is 15 inch squares that need one corner rounded off with a 6" radius curve. I have made a fitted pocket jig with small screw down clamps (I dont have vacuum). I can come into the material from the side..meaning that I dont need to plunge down into it.
Tool is a buddy 24 x 48 with a spindle.
If anyone has any additional input I would be glad to hear it.
Thanks for being there. This forum has made it much easier to
get going with my buddy. Would not have been able to do it without this reference material.
I will wait a day before I start trial and erroring in case any sage wishes to
guide this humble novice.
Information is gold.
