    Default Wood vise

Just finished the vise for my workbench it uses two leadscrews connected by gears I used this software for the gears. The vise opens and closes very smoothly.

    Well worth the 26.00

I used standard 3/4 rod, Acme rod I am sure would work even better.

    Default Vice - Wow

    Brian,

Any photos you can share of how the vice is mounted? Also, what size gear are these and material you made them from? Impressive, clever, nice job!

Mick, the vise frame is welded angle iron I welded 3/4 nuts to the angle iron for the leadscrews. The gears are made of red oak around 5 1/2" in diameter.

I will try to get some pics today

Got a few pictures though the welded assembly is not visible now that it is installed.

Rubbed it down with linseed oil.

This looks awesome! I love it even more that it's actually functional. It would be neat to have just as a prop!
