    Default Cutting Avonite

Does anyone have experience cutting Avonite or any of the other similar solid surface materials on the Bot? If so, how did it work out? Any tricks to pass on?

We have not cut Avonite but we do cut Corian all the time. It cuts fine on our HSD spindle.

    Matt,
I just cut some Avonite this weekend. Avonite comes in two types. You have the Designer series which is like Corian then you have the Foundation series which is acrylic based. I cut the Foundation. I used an Onsrud 63-5xx series bits. The Foundation doesn't cut like Corian but is cuts pretty good. I was cutting at 14000 rpm and 2 ips

Great, thanks! I am going to cut some this week to see how it goes. I have a small new bar area in our hallway that is topless at the moment. As much as I enjoy that, it is time to cover it up. Do you do fabrication, polishing, installs and all that as well? If so perhaps I can get some tips from you via e-mail.

We are set up to sell it through our shop but haven't had any of it sell yet. Everyone wants granite (which we don't do but sub-contract out).

    Matt,
I actually cut it for a customer that makes trophies out of it. I cut 20 sheets for them a couple months ago. They do polish it but I'm not sure now.
