Default OK- still struggling with Tool database

I got a few bits with my used BT and I have been given a few and
bought quite a few. I am told you should not use tool numbers above
19... but with the tools already in the TDBase (in metric, raised panel
bits- etc) there are a lot of number 1's, 2's- etc. Does this all mean
something to anything, other that the SB program driving the bot
asking if you have that tool in the spindle? Thanks Gene

Gene, the tool "numbers" are for use if you have an ATC, (Automatic Tool Changer). For Manual Change, just be sure you put the correct tool in place according to your design toolpaths. Size, shape, etc. joe
