A good tip

Here is how I set up files. This way I know what bit I need, what the thickness width and length is.
First is the bit size .5
2nd is the thickness 1.5
3rd is the width 4.
4th would be the length 48 ..

My file the oven rack pull WOULD READ AS FOLLOWS (OVEN RACK PULL .5 1.5 x 4 x 48)

half inch bit wood is 1.5 inches thick it is 4 inches wide and 48 inches long... So the next time I cut that.. I look for that size of board or one close.. ( I actually have my files set up for standard width boards that I would get from the saw mill.)

this way I never forget the information. It is stored right there in the cut file and in my aspire file.

Mr. Gunn there are many ways for us to do it.. it is what works for each person. where I plane my own wood I stay to the same sizes and never vary what I cut is production runs when I am low or out of products. it never changes and it is for my inventory.. My production runs are always with a end mill bit..date and customer has no play here except when I make something just for one customer.. but then I have files for customer jobs that I file it under.
you way sounds like a winner also. Thanks for posting.. the more ways to do something helps others..
