Kevin, don't know how ambitious you're feeling, But I really liked Steve G.'s panels. Steve, hope you don't mind me re-posting cropped pic.

    Scott…
Thanks for re-posting my pics while I was out of pocket… Anytime it’s appropriate to the question that’s fine…
I’ll try to post some ideas tomorrow afternoon. I’m over committed in the A.M.

Wow, those doors are incredible! Where did you get the files to do that? I'm doing a project for my wife with solid cherry doors, she would love this design to be carved in to the face! Please let me know!

I like to make V-Carved panels on theme…
Oak and acorn, Straw flowers, Ivey, Fern leaves, Flourishes and more… Sometimes I incorporate the design into a door panel, or more often a wall hanging. I’m more craftsman that I am artist so I am inspired by elements from multiple sources. I’ll explode widget type fonts for element ideas or some are derived from my “Mega Collection” of vectors, my Dover collections, and my favorite clip art web sites:
    http://www.briarpress.org/cuts/browse
    http://etc.usf.edu/clipart/
I can identify at least three sources of inspiration for the Oak leaf pattern from my kitchen cabinets referenced by Scott and at least one element I can’t.
I tend to V-Carve around my elements rather than the shapes themselves… This means that my designs must be packed tightly enough to avoid open areas big enough to cause a hole in the design. I could limit the cutting depth but don’t like the flat areas this creates.
The nature of this type of pattern is that they don’t easily scale to different size cabinet doors… every size door is a new arrangement of the design elements.
I had planned to do all the doors in my kitchen, but when I had the uppers finished the “busyness” was overwhelming! I think they make better “features” than allover.
I’ve attached some door panels I’ve done, some I’ve proposed and some I’m contemplating.

Thank you for sharing. Your work shows that creative application of technique is the key. The oak leaves remind me of Sheridan carving in leather. I prefer these to a lot of the 3d work I have seen.
