I built mine using an O-ring for the cap attachment.
But if they are CNC'ng them. the threaded cap is nice.
Now have them make a drag knife

Never mind about the drag knife is being prototyped as I type.
If someone knows about the Donek Tools Drag Knife patent that would be great don't want to do anything illegal.

I'd say you're pretty close to their design.
Since most patent law is based on first to file, I'd step carefully if you were thinking of selling those.
Here's a simple idea for a spring loaded pen holder I used.
I often use one to verify my layout on a piece of Dollar Store posterboard before cutting a sheet of aluminum. I also have a plotter paper I use that's even cheaper.
