Default 3D model geometry problems with .stl

    Hello-

I model my 3D object in Microstation v8i. I export it into an .stl file type. It has worked many times in the past, but for some reason the geometry, which is slightly more complex this time, is not being interpreted thoroughly into the Partworks 3D program. Is there an issue with using an STL? It is processing most of the detail correctly, but sometimes it simply shows the toolpath going completely through my object. Any advice?

    Thank you!

I would try opening it up in another 3D program like Blender (free) and first see if it opens up. If so, save it out again as an STL and see if it fixed it. There can be all sorts of reasons why your STL won't load or work as expected. This can be something as simple as the normals being messed up (it thinks the outside is the inside etc) in one or many parts of the STL.
