Default PC Router making funny noise

So I turned my bot on today and the router started making this strange noise. Sounded like a piece of plastic go wrapped around the collet. But no, it was coming from inside the router! I opened up the top and looked around and it seemed like the brushes are sitting way to close so i pulled back on them and spun the router by hand and the noise was gone. I figure new brushes, no biggie. But then I thought about it, the brushes actually look okay and if the spring are pushing them to tight won't they just push the new ones to tight as well? I thinking I may have a deeper issue but I'm not sure. Think I am better off taking to the repair shop?

***Nevermind, Pulled the brushes all the way out and there worn down way to much! New question - should I replace anything else while I am at it just because I'm in there?

I would check the bearings as that is a easy fix also

Just replace the brushes. If you spun the motor with the brushes pulled back and didn't have any resistance or strange noises, brushes is all you need.

Order 2 or 3 sets of brushes so you have them on hand for next time.

The decimal point seems to be the most important on the z axis... x & y not so much....

sorry no photos, but they where worn down to the point where I could see the other end of the lead wire on the face of the brush. I've never had to change the brushes on my router before so i didn't know what size they start at, there was only about ".25 left!. I am going to pick up spare at the repair shop next week. Lucky for me we have a PC 7539 Plunge router that is rarely ever been used and it has the same brushes, I swapped them out for a quick fix and was running again in no time. thanks for the input guys!

Get yourself some spare bearings, they usually go soon after the brushes.
