I looked for the registry entry and it did have a 1111 for port so I deleted it , I tried again it still goes back to the port select window.

I called shopbot and they are looking into it and are suppressed to get back to me about it.

if anyone has the same USB adapter spindle control that I am trying to install could you send me a picture of the end of the cable that plugs into the usb adapter so I can compare them? the one in the guide is grey and they one that was sent to me is black so I just want to make sure the cable wires are in the correct slot on the male end of the plug.

Red to r+/s+ and black to r-/s-.

What are the port assignments shown in the USBview program mentioned earlier? You'll see two different ones for 'ShopBot'. The port window will come back if you have the wrong port # and the registry will default to 1111 when cancelling.

Is there another shopbot listed further down? I only see one there. Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in (maybe into another USB port) to see if windows re-recognizes it? Check the port# again in device manager after that and with the reg folder deleted, try it once more.

Wonder if your little USB unit is dead. ?

You did choose to install the drivers at the end of the SB3 install?

Well thanks to Denver I was able to get the SB to recognize the USB adapter by downloading the correct drivers for the adapter, the ones that came with it where not the ones that SBC uses so it would find it and it seems to be working now but the SB still doesn't control the spindle and there is a EF4 error on the spindle control screen now.
has anyone had this error before?
