    Default Profile carving

    Hi everyone

I am planing to build a pergola and I want to carve the ends that stick out they usually just have a curel on them. What I am looking for is
something like a green man carving in profile. All the ones I find are
    straight on like a plaque

    Thanks
    Mike Dunk

Nice one Steve. Not to many out there. Thought tracing the "double headed" pic by hand on first link might work. And splitting second one might yield interesting results. Not awake enough to try yet

I was thinking of something that could carved on the side of a 2x8 something like the attached indian. I also don't have aspire so I need something I can download.

    Michael…
Sorry I can’t see your Indian to be sure I’m addressing your question…
The STL I referenced above can be brought into PW3D, Rotated and cut in profile… You can do this with any STL. You can also scale and distort. You can then export it to work with in VCP.

    Michael,

You can't link to a picture on your EverNote site. Use the Manage Attachments in the Attach Files section below the reply section to directly upload your image.

What Steve suggested can work, but you will lose all the undercut details - so it may or may not work well. Since there are a lot of depth changes face on, you will lose most of them by rotating the relief model.

Another thought would to be to use one of these models and exaggerate the depth, then slice it and make a whole face...

What Ron says is true… You’re squashing the entire thickness of his face into about half the thickness of the lumber. As an alternative, Possibly you could V-Carve half a face on each side of your lumber and still get a profile suggestion!
