You'll need what's called a "Door Grade" MDF. It has more resin and machines a lot better. You'll most likely find it at lumber wholesalers who sell to cabinet shops. Lumberyards for home building will most likely not have it.

Atlantic plywood has good door grade mdf. They service new England and I know they have warehouses in ct. and ny.

I'm a very minor consumer so although I can open up accounts with places like Atlantic Plywood, it's not practical when ordering a sheet every once in a while. I also don't want to order several sheets just to stock it and let is swell.
I spoke to a very friendly local lumber yard place and he got me a sample of Medex and Uniboard. Truly a night and day difference but also the price reflects it.

Harbor Sales stocks some Medex, but I don't think the entire line. They'll ship a single sheet or more next day for free with their trucks.
