Almost caught up on birthday gifts

Scott the female was .2
the male was .18
and I used titebond II , but on my next one I think I want to try the translucent glue and different wood . My daughter inlaw wanted the box to be pine , I don't like V carving pine the cherry and walnut inlays were good but the top two the rose and music notes were quarter sawn oak another mistake but I guess that's how you learn what not to use . Thanks Jeff, Yeah, one of my first cuts was oak and it was horrible. 1.75" kids blocks with alphabet and graphics. Tried to stay away from oak since(probably a mistake BUT). Don't do much with Pine at all here.

OH Jeff, What bit, and how exactly did you remove the Male waste? Pocket down by stages individually, or clean it all off in one swoop in a raster? How much did you leave to sand off.
Or did you sand it all off?

Scott , I use a 30 degree , 1/8" engraving bit , then a 1/8" EM to remove everything at once in a raster . I usually have from 1/8"- 1/4" to remove. I 'be go a hand grinder that it takes about 30 seconds then do last little bit with my orbital sander. It just makes me nervous to mill it off that lid I only wanted to do once. So I sanded it all I would like to get some scroll saw wood . Jeff

Thanks Jeff, Just about to go remove .18" Padauk from that Walnut I've been dissecting. Just got my first 30degree last week. That point makes me nervous

Scott , they work great I use mine a lot I keep 2-3 of 1/8" and 1/4" and my sharpening company only hits me about 4 bucks to keep sharp. Jeff
