Default I'm looking for some quick tips on engraving

    Thanks in advance!

I'm doing someone a favor ..(no good deed goes unpunished).

They gave me a vector which will be a sign. The vector includes the name of the camp, and a few fish, and a border that looks like a rope design.

They would like this to be engraved (raised) about 1/4" from the remaining sign base.

    Ok here are the Q.'s

    1) Should I used a V-Carve Tool path (after I do a pocket tool path)
or.. a Prism Tool path (after a pocket tool path)

    2) Should I use a V-Bit or a Bullnose bit for the engraving?

FYI the sign will be about 6" tall and 24" long --

    3) what material would you recommend - the whole thing has to be painted white -- then the 'raised' logo painted a light blue

    Exterior Use

    THANKS!!

Brent, You got a pic? What does it look like simply VCarved with a clearance tool? Try it with different bits(maybe include a pointed roundover?).
This will teach you to volunteer
Maybe break it into different VCarve toolpath segments with different bits, sometimes works with 2.5D.

Use the preview feature an do a few paths to show what it will look like with different bits. I like to use a texture path on the sign back ground so that I can get away with not sanding as much. You may find a ball nose to texture and then a v bit to outline the letters will work.
