    Question Alpha Spindle shutting off

Power loss? voltage drop? I am unsure as to what is going on.
Spindle sounds like it is turning of then the fan makes a odd noise like it is trying to power back up but unable to?

Please follow the links to the youtube videos and any input would be greatly appreciated!

It looks like the 24 power supply is pulsing due to something shorting. Try disconnecting the spindle fan first to see if it stops. If not then try disconnecting the proximity switches.

Default disconnected spindle fan with no luck

where is the best place to take loose the proxy switches loose at. does the control box need to be in the off position? does something need to be changed in the control software to turn the switches off since they would be unplugged?

The 24V connection for the prox switches is beside output 8 on the front of the control board. You will have either two brown or red wires connected there. You have to turn the power switch off to open the control box door. Leave it off when disconnecting the wires. The spindle fan wires are connected directly to the 24V power supply. If you find that one of your limit switches is bad you can type VN in the command console window and then either turn limit switches off or change the input setting to standard switch for the input that the bad switch was connected to.

We have replacement fans in stock or can order from suppliers such as DigiKey or Allied. I wouldn't risk damage to the spindle by running too long with the fan.

I've gone through several of these. The Papst ones don't seem to last well for me for some reason. Every one of them has eventually stopped and needs to be kick started by spinning them or they just start to slow down and rattle and not start at all. I've stopped buying the overpriced Papst ones and ordered three different kinds of 24v ball bearing ones with varying cfm for the price of one of the Papst. Still using the first one in the same time that I would have gone through two of the others. Only drawback was that all of the others are taller and I had to make a 0.25" black PVC spacer to raise up the housing a bit.

    Original Papst ones, new....
