These have a lot more uses than just rounding over the outside edge of a profile cut and you can work with any thickness of material unlike plunge cutting roundovers which aren't as versatile.
Not very impressed with Rockler bits as a whole compared to other bits recommended here for CNC work, although I do use their keyhole occasionally.

Keep in mind if you want the good roundover then your depth of cut= radius of roundover..
and i used the roundover for plunge machning 2mm doc/pass..
I left woodwork due to office work.

Recent experience. The last 2 or 3 plaques I used a brand new Magnate round over. My rpm is 10k, my feed is 3.3 inch per second, my plunge 1 inch per second, my direction is climb and .08 pass depth and i add ramps. I get a smooth cut going with the grain but against the grain i get a real rough chip out effect. With my profile cut out i use a quarter inch end mill and every thing works fine. Any ideas.

Rick, Is that the 1/2"Radius plunge roundover you linked above?
I only use Pointed Roundovers, but speed seems low,and feed a little high for Walnut.
Have you tried editing the passes so the last 2-3 passes are very light(.02-.03") and a final pass at .01"?
I usually get a slight rough spot, but it's at 45 degrees to the grain, and it moves 90 degrees depending on climb or conventional, but similar in slight roughness.
Just a thought, but mine need just a touch of 320 and 600G to look like this(only pic I could find, but walnut keyfob batches cut the same with a Whiteside .25"R)
    Totally different bit though.
    Did it just start happening?

    OH, Were you spiral ramping?
It's the only way I do my cutouts.
Almost exclusively a conventional cut here.
Hope it works with that cutter!

I cut some poplar today, slowed down the speed rate a tad and turned the rpm up one notch. Smooth as a baby's butt, but we will see what it does on black walnut next time
