    Default Farewell to Bill Lisica

A few weeks back I lost my best friend and ShopBot lost one of its most ardent supporters. I met Bill when I moved to Florida 5 years ago and he taught me everything I know about CNC wood working He held my hand every step of the way when I got my machine. We all know the frustrations that come with the machines/software and I was blessed to have Bill as a friend and mentor who was always willing and able to take me through every problem, step by step. He loved wood and was able to make some incredibly fabulous pieces. He loved a challenge, he wanted to make threads on a CNC and did, see the picture attached. He want to to make full size fish, and mastered using layers, see the pic.

He requested that his remains be cremated, mixed with sawdust and swept out the door. Yesterday we got to step two using some of the sawdust from his table-saw. I will be making an urn from pieces and parts around his shop. For now he is at home in a box I made years ago. It seemed fitting to let him rest on the machine that gave him so much satisfaction.

Bill was loved by many and will be missed. We lost a good one.

    Mike

I am sorry for the loss, as well.

It sounds like you two were lucky to have one another. You, so you could learn some of what he had figured out. And he, so he could share his knowledge- and have a friend to remember him now that he is gone. And to honor his wishes after his passing.

    Good job. Well done.

Cremation sounds like a appropriate solution for someone who loved wood..."ashes to ashes...dust to dust"
Sounds like he had sawdust running thru his veins.....God bless him!
