Looking for Cypress and Western Red Cedar suppliers in Eastern TN area. Any resources? Thanks!
Hi,
What is the difference between Red Cedar obtained locally vs Western Red Cedar. I am in Cleveland, TN and get Red Cedar from a lumber/sawmill just over the state line in GA.

Most of the red cedar this side of the big river is eastern red cedar which is actually a juniper tree and not the same as western red.
They are two totally different species.
Both it and cypress are very resistant to weather rot and insects.
Both also not always easy to find outside their native areas.
When I lived out west no-one carried cypress that I know of near me and now, if I need some, western red is only carried in one yard I know of in the area.
Thanks, that cleared up my misunderstanding...

Seeing where Knoxville TN is I would check yards in Atlanta.
Give Dixie ply a call-If they don't they may be able to direct you.
I'm headed to Atl next week, going to Atlanta Hardwood to get some ultralight and Baltic Ply. They are in Mableton, GA, northwest Atl.
PeachState Lumber in Kennesaw has Spanish Cedar and Cypress.
