    Default texturing a 3D model

I have cut a 3D model that has texture in the background. it cuts fine however the tool retracts .02 ( my safe Z)over the top of material and that's in addition to the .875 start depth.
.........Is there a way to set the tool to retract only the height (.125) necessary to clear the object that has been carved in the model?

    Thanks

Yes. Trick it by adding a 'pad' to the 3D model so it will have to go high over that feature. Then resort to your original model for final operations.

    or...

Use vectors to restrict the machining area to keep the tool out of that area.

of course there is...if using vcp or aspire you can "trick" the toolpaths...the previews will show you...just takes a little time to learn how to do it
