    Default Walnut dining table

48" x 108". My brother, Andy, is a metal sculptor by trade, so always nice to collaborate when we can. Images are of final fitting stages, which is far easier upside down. Shopbot cut legs and mounting blocks, plus patterns for ends of spine as well as butterfly inlays yet to be fit into top.

I like the "beefiness" (is that a word?) of this. It looks good and solid.
    Good job!

    Default Inlay stage

    Thanks for the comments!

Inlays executed using a hybrid of Frank Klausz' butterfly joint methodology, meaning as much as possible was done on the cnc.

Truth be told, I like the organic processes of chiseling, hand planing and scraping. It is more enjoyable when digital fabrication brings dead-nuts accuracy and speed to the mundane roughing first.

    Thanks for those pics Jeff!
Really nice to see figured Walnut/Macassar(?) Ebony and a sharp cabinet steel and a LN LA block plane in a pic, while sipping first cuppa on a drizzly day. Thanks
Love your layout of the boards and the tightness of your butterflies.
Can't wait for the "Pop" pictures
    Definitely a portfolio piece!!!
