I have a PRS ALPHA model with the indexer mounted along the X axis. The indexer is the ShopBot model with the supplied VEXTRA T-10 drive motor. My question is this; does this motor have the ability to handle a 8 X 8 by 7 foot post for machining? If not what motor would be a suitable replacement?
I have learned so much from the experts here and the information shared. Wanted to say thanks to all and that it is very much appreciated.

I've done 12" wide by 8' long columns with no problem

Thanks for your reply. My concern was the weight of the 6x6 post seems heavy for that T-10 indexer motor. I had my indexer mounted on the Y axis but needed to change it to the X axis because of these long post I need to make.
I will post a pic soon.

Very nice set up! I wish I could mount that on my machine but alas there isn't the room. What are there specs for the geared stepper motor that drives it? Backlash?
