    Default corian/ solid surface material

    Hi All.

I have enjoyed cutting corian and hanex materials that I have been given from local cabinet shops. I would like to have a more dependable source. I am looking at purchasing discontinued colors from warehouses, and need to know what "fair market value" is for items like this. I know alot of this depends on the desirability of the color and size, but I need some sort of sq. ft. price to start from. Thanks.

Very expensive, probably from $35 to $60 sq. ft, the high end going towards installed which obviously you don't need. So lets say $30 at least.

Corian itself, which of course is just a name brand of solid surface material, can be very tough to find new unless you are a licensed contractor. I've had resellers slam the phone down on my ear when they find I don't meet their criteria, can be a batch of rude, snobby folks to deal with for some reason. Much easier to locate wilsonart/gibraltar, which is also a bit cheaper. If you are using it for lithos, only a limited selection of whites will do, not many others from what I have found will pass enough light.

Sometimes you can luck out on craigslist and find people practically giving it away, others seem to think it is made out of gold.

I can send you 1/4" Glacier White Corian (ideal Litho material) for $15/sq ft cut to size.

Shipping to be cheapest way unless special shipping requested and added net for standard packaging sizes.

    payment via paypal.

I also have a bunch of 1/2" pieces in varying sizes and colors (Not Litho material) that I will sell cheap but this is for local pickup only.

You can e-mail or PM me by left clicking on my forum ID

You can buy Corian as a sign shop. They are happy to work with you. If you want to do cabinet work or counters, they require you to take their classes.

I have a good amount of Corian scrap that I've gotten for free but my source doesn't do much with Corian anymore. Most people are using stone counter tops now. It is expensive to buy. In my opinion, it's cost prohibitively expensive in many ways. 12mm white Corian is a bit more than 12mm white acrylic but two or three times the cost of 18mm white PVC. That said, there are a lot of projects Corian is great for.

Anyone can purchase Corian and other solid surface at www.solidsurface.com Although solid surface fabricators think their left over material is like gold it is not. With hundreds of fabricators sitting on a lot of material left over from commercial jobs the chance that they can build a countertop with it is slim to none. I offer far less than wholesale price per square foot. Since I was a fabricator for over 25 years I am aware of the cost. Wholesale cost is between $10 - $30 per square foot depending on the color

Is there 0.25" Corian for making lithophanes on that website? I see plenty of 0.5" Corian but not 0.25". I didn't spend a lot of time at that website, but did enter .25" Corian as a search term. There were some hits, but all seemed to be too thick (0.5").

I've got plenty of 0.25" White and Bone Corian for my own projects, but I get a lot of inquiries from others where a good source is. EBay has it intermittently, and that's usually where I send people...albeit, it's not always available it seems.

.25 can be tough to find, its usually a special order getting it from shops, reason being its not what they typically use.

I bandsaw .5 down to size, of course not everyone has a bandsaw that can do that. I have also tried planing it, works but is real slow and very messy.

I don't believe they offer any .25" material.
.25 Corian is made for walls, not Countertops so it is rarely used. $15.00 price per square foot offered is a very fair. The prices l quoted are for volume purchase of discontinued or left over .5" material
