This is my first large scale wooden sign project. It is 6' wide, 4' tall and cut out of southern yellow pine. Used the bot to straighten out the 2x8's as well as the carving. MAJOR learning experience but really fun to do.

good job. I get some big wood signs from this sign maker who's router died. he uses glued up cedar and such 3" thick always stressful when the wood is a grand.
good work!

Yea, I had $50 in pine. I can only imagine working with cedar worth that much. It's nice to know that fellow trust you with that.
Congrats on your first big sign and getting your machine running again Jon!

That is a really great looking sign. I am curious about how you painted the top surface of the sign. Care to share?

Thanks for the kind words. I can't remember if I read about painting technique here or on the vectric forum. It's literally finger painting (no I'm not being a smart and my middle finger works the best). I only paint the raised area and you will be surprised at the control you have. I've used it on quite a few projects. See attached picture.
Now, that is a really good idea! And the sign looks great also!.....joe
I would never have thought of using my finger. Thanks. I'll have to give it a try.
