    Default sketchup vcarve pro

Does anyone know if the free sketchup works with vcarve pro?
if so is there any advantage getting sketchup pro?

Yes, it does work… It brings in 2D lines but arcs are segmented.
The only advantage I can see with the pro version is more file formats to import and export.

    Paul,
I've been running 4+ years with my Bot, VCPro and Sketchup. I am biased in this regard, but it's what works for me, as I'm close to 10 years drafting every project in Sketchup for my full time business. A few notes:

    - Plugins are now referred to as extensions, and you MUST get a dxf exporting extension. Sketchup pro does include a dxf export option, but the free extension actually works better. I bought the pro version years ago, and feel the money spent was worth it considering I make a living with it. What's fair is fair.

    - If you are just getting started, get Robert Lange's Sketchup for woodworking dvd's. A very big jumpstart in navigating and easing your intro to Sketchup (assuming you're doing cabs and furniture..?)

There are as many hairpin turns in any other drafting programs, most certainly in converting to part files. If you dig Sketchup early on, stay with it and it will serve you well. If it doesn't do it for you, try something else. Just be aware, you'll reach a point of no return on your decision, usually after investing a handful of years, so make sure it jives with your personal intuition and it does all you desire.

Lots more questions will arise - just ask - you're not alone.
