Erratic behavior

Running same files for a few days and experiencing a number of odd behavior:

- Z height> cutting all the way through when verified I should have an 1/8" skin
- Today> running same files all day- suddenly feed speed appears to be about 1 IPS, even though set for 3 IPS. One may think optical illusion, however, I saw it snap back to specified speed suddenly.

Misting a bit of water around floor and on cables - assuming static, as we are hitting lows of 13% humidity in areas out here.

Verified - no odd USB activity or attempts to update. Never connected to the internet.

Ultimate question- Static/Grounding issue, or computer?
(perhaps a little of both?)

2012 PRS Alpha. Experienced USB issues in early days, though cured and very smooth sailing for last several years... til now.

Ideas?

That's really low humidity... Make sure your dust collection system is properly grounded using the bare copper wire (MIG wire) through the hose method. (Search for "bare copper wire" here...plenty of examples)

You may even want to run a small humidifier in the room with the machine to knock down static. All of the problems you are having point to static as the culprit.

Watch gary's vidio.... it shows how to properly ground your dust collection system with cnc.... i did this years ago and have never had a com problem again...... sometimes he's right!!!!

Okay- I got a 98% on the "test" as far as proper grounding methodology. However, was not aware of the importance of the insulated standoff. At that fastening point, I merely have the hose clamped there, which is in need of help due to stress cracks from years of excessive flex there. So...
Time to fab or purchase a standoff.
Anyone offering a pre-built solution like the one in Gary's video?
