Default This is my first sign using PVC for the letters

    Here’s a sign Bernie Tenpas and I did recently…

This is my first sign using PVC for the letters… the body and posts of the sign are western cedar. The white area around the text is white, type 1 PVC pocketed into the Cedar ¼”. The text is 120° prism cut PVC pocketed into the white “shadow” The black letters were spray painted with rust-oleum “plastic” paint. Letters, shadows and other PVC elements were mechanically fastened with 10-24 machine screws all the way through from the back, every element is individually replaceable/re-paintable.

The bottom text is 60° V-carved directly into the PVC… I’ll think twice before doing that again! Lots of fuzzys in the very bottom that were hard to clean up! They were very easy to paint, however… just spray and wipe the surface of the PVC clean!

    The 6 X 6 posts were aged using a vinegar/steel wool mix.

I’m thinking that PVC will be my material of choice in the future. It cuts cleanly and makes a very tough letter.
