    Question Engineering term

What is the name of a fold and or a pressed flute (no product removal) in flat metal whose job is to add rigidity/strength to the part?

    Random examples here:

I have cut some aluminum parts but I want to get these structural elements added to the part but don't know what the are called.

    My thanks in advance.

While I am/was an electrical engineer, where I worked, the mechanical engineers called the reinforcements you are referring to, "bosses". Maybe that is a shortened form of embossments. Consider my reply as suspect, and to be replaced by anyone who claims authority on this subject! Chuck
