I recently purchased a used PRS Standard 4 x 8 2.2hp HSD with a vacuum table using 2 ShopBot Vaccubes. I am having a great time with the machine. The spoilboard is down to about 1/4 in and I wanted to replace it. I have searched the forum and didn't find any specifics. I wanted to ask about MDF vs. Particle board. Are there advantages for one vs the other? I understand MDF doesn't hold screws/nails well. I have been using Raptor nails to secure small projects.

Also, it seems the procedure is to surface the existing board, surface the replacement then glue the replacement on top and let the vacuum run for a few hours until the glue sets and surface again to level it out. Then seal the edges to improve vacuum... correct?

I am just a hobbyist and like to make custom cabinets, carve signs etc. Great forum, lots of ideas. This forum has been a great help getting started. Thanks for any assistance provided!
