I’m going to put my desktop up for sale. It has 1 hp spindle, digitizer, several bits, original vsoftware, vcarve. The machine has been hobby use only and has very few hours on it. I’m located in Albuquerque, NM and will sell for pickup only, That might be negotiable. I’ll work up a fair price and get back to you.

Getting close to buying a machine. Looking at used machines. What year was the last major improvement of the desktop?

The beginning of August 2017 is when the Desktop received the design update with two Y axis drive motors and frame improvements
Some of the differences can be seen in the pictures in each Quick Start Guide -

Just to add a little on older Desktops...The transition from 4"Z to 5.5" was approximately April 2015.
We upgraded our two Desktops with the kit from Shopbot for around $275 each, and it takes a couple hours.
A quick giveaway of 4" Z is the dust shroud for spindle models...upgrade Z plate doesn't allow it to be used.
Couldn't find an exact pic, but similar to this pic except open on the top, and hinged to swing open to the left.
    1.5" Z doesn't sound like much...but it IS
