Online Training Thursday October 4th - Turning the Physical Into the Digital

Note that the training day of the week has moved to Thursday’s.
Please join ShopBot Tools this Thursday October 4th, 2018 for a free online training. The topic this week is “Turning the Physical Into the Digital.” The training begins at 1:00pm eastern time and runs approximately 45 minutes. It is then followed up by a 45 minute Q & A for participates to ask questions and work with each other.
This training will look at taking a physical form and using it to create a digital file. Do you have jigs and forms that you’ve used over the years with traditional woodworking machines? What about the bottom of a rocking chair that has lost one of its rockers? Let’s see how we can take these physical objects and create a digital working file that can be tool-pathed and cut out.
We will take a look at different approaches for replicating irregular shapes and importing them into CAD software. Some of the methods we will be exploring are taking photos, using the digitizing probe, redrawing, and scanning. Taking a look at all of these will help us determine how to match the original drawing or part to the best imported/digital image.
There is no need to sign up, just show up a few minutes early on Thursday and click on the link below. You will log into GoToMeetings and wait for the training to get started. Make sure your computer volume is turned on.
