    Default Program Stopping- communication error?

I have a PRS alpha running on a windows 7 HP tower. I have been running the machine daily for years but lately I have been experiencing a problem with more and more frequency. The program will stop on a random line of code, the spindle continues to run. The cursor is no longer trapped in the STOP field and the only way to stop the spindle is to quit the program. (space bar and other keys do nothing).

Any suggestions on what gremlin has crept into my system?

I suggest trying to isolate the problem by changing out the USB cable and computer. It sounds a bit like failing memory chips or a bad cable.

Also, swap keyboard if possible and blow out peripherals USB ports...just had to swap out my mouse and keyboard 2 weeks ago....funky problems that were similar.

I changed out the USB cable for a new shorter one, double checked my grounding cables and I am back in business. Glad I did not have to get a new computer. Windows 10 and I don’t get along well.

    Default USB Memory stick

    Dear John

Do you use a USB memory stick to transfer part files to your control computer?

We traced our 'COMMS errors and lock-ups' to not removing the memory stick correctly with the safely eject device option.

    Sincerely
    Martin
