A friend of mine belongs to a model airplane club. He asked me is I could make propellers. They appear to have a fairly complicated geometry. Does anyone have experience making propellers? Are there reliable sources for 3D models?

I want to say I saw a tutorial that TJ had done but I am not seeing it in the videos now. I will try and look on his youtube videos and see if I can find it.
I thought he showed the model in vcarve/aspire but I must have been mistaken sorry.

I seem to remember that there was someone that made model propellers. I think they posted on the Vectric forum
it is not that trivial as loading a model. Besides the diameter, the pitch and blade profile, the number of blades must be chosen. Then, the material has to hold up with the significant stress and it must be dynamically well balanced.
On the other hand, well optimized propellers can be purchased for most common parameters at modest cost.
I didn't spend a lot of time working on this but wanted to see if my thoughts could be done with Aspire. So here's a quickie tut!
1. Go to THINGIVERSE
2. Search for PROPS
3. Download the STL file
4. Fire up Aspire and load in the 3d component (IE the stl file)
