    Default Dovetails

Does anyone use a dovetail or similar joinery feature in any of the design software packages?

    John…

    “or similar”

Not sure what you consider similar… I’ve become very proficient and fallen in love with Box Joints. You don’t need any special jigs, fixtures or setups hanging off the end of your table. Customers are very pleased when they see them because they have been conditioned to believe quality woodworking involves dovetails but don’t know a dovetail from a box joint!

    No.
    However,
See Gary Campbell's web /blog article about doing this on the shopbot. Requires building a jig, but is way worth it. Everything else is an obvious cheat by comparison.
I've been doing this for years and the speed/accuracy is unmatched for all other jigs/methods I've tried during my career. (Katie jig, Woodrat/router boss)

    Here it is :
