Assuming you have Aspire or VCarve. The setting is in the Material Setup.

If SB3....then type VC (Values Cutter) and you can reset Machine's Safe-Z height.

Scott, when the job is finished and comes to rest (Home), my Z height is not high enough.
    How is that changed?
    Thanks in advance.

That would be set in the "Home Position" on right hand side Material Setup in Vectric file as Phil showed IF it's at the end of a Vectric Toolpath.
Vectric software DOES take into account material thickness already...so be careful of Topping Out if you don't have a Z-Prox functioning!

SB3 doesn't know how thick your material is...only where Z-Zero is.....so if Z-Zeroing to spoilboard with thick material, make SURE it's set high enough to clear material in VC!
Otherwise a Spacebar/Pause also causes the bit to slow down IN the material....as it THINKS it doesn't have to retract!

    I thank you.
I think I follow what you are explaining. Sort of.
    Thanks a bunch.
One of these days, I need to open the Operators Manual. (Bad, real bad on my part.)

First time I made a production file for buttons that was Zeroed to the spoilboard(with .75" HDO backer board)...
It took Frank at Tech Support 5 minutes to explain to me Why a Spacebar Pause was stopping the tool In the material!
I'd never even opened up VC Safe-Z before....changed it to 1.2" (material plus .2") and I was off to the races...boy did I feel stupid!

Oh.....Changing Home Position to clear workpiece/raise to bit changing height/AND being next to a bolt on spoilboard for Zeroing after bit change...saved a LOT of time and hassle!

It still does not go to a safe height. What ever it is at it stays there and come home. I use Jog home to safe height

Not totally sure what Exactly the problem is Kevin.
IF you lost a computer, then you should have had to reinstall and go through the Setup routine for your machine, and a Firmware install.
Then typing VC in Command Line should have let you reset your SB3 Safe-Z height.
(Safe-Z in SB3 will be different height above spoilboard if from top of material and using different thickness materials....and Z-Zeroing to spoilboard, has to be changed in VC for material height)

IF it's the pre-sets in K eypad, then enter position you want..press Go To..and once there, Right click the preset button you want(and name it if you want)...proceed to other pre-sets etc.
