Hey Blaine, that's a great question! Here's the answer:
Most recommendations of chipload get reduced when you cut deeper... So if you're cutting with a .25" bit usually the chipload recommendation is at a depth equal to the diameter of the bit, so in this case it would be .25". Let's say you wanted to use that same bit to cut deeper you'd have to reduce the chipload. That's reflected in the calculator but not explained well. I altered it so it shows the actual chipload and gives you a reminder to reduce it when you're cutting deeper than the diameter of the bit.
