Hi has any one done a downgrading on a prs alpha

Hi i am the lucky owner and user off a prs alpha 98 X 48 Shopbot. with a
Shopbot control boks er PRS - A 081 208 00 / 595 and a upgrade to Shopbot controls er P/N 001003 V 0,8. Running with
SB3.8.50 software atm with usb cable and a laptop.
conciderring to dismantle the usb plugin on controllercard and running it with a "lpt" com cable and a desktop - Has anyone done that - or is it a totally wrong idea

Atm having probs with laptop freezing - and loosing connection to controller card - running my other machine with mach3 and "lpt" cam cable - this one never lost connection between pc and controllercard

I’m thinking your problem may be your laptop… laptops have many power saving features, some that shutdown USB conections. Laptops aren’t reccomended for running a ShopBot. Try running it on a desktop computer. It’s been a long time, I don’t remember why, but I considered the USB to be an inprovement!
