Default Spindle going all the way up to Z proximity switch after zeroing

Our 4x4 Alpha keeps moving all the way up to the Z-Prox switch after we manually zero a bit. Can't figure out how to turn this off. All of our other Shopbots with manual tool change stay at 1" above Z-plate after zeroing. Any help is much appreciated.

Sounds like a corrupt C2 routine. Might want to check your C2 for where that is happening.

can’t remember if “safe z” height is an SB setting or something set in your CAM software.

I’d check SB settings to see if you some crazy number set for the z axis.

I reinstalled the SB controller software, reloaded control box firmware and set z offset (c8) at 1" and it is still doing it, is there a way to manually change this setting? Thanks.

Is this an ATC machine? If not, did you at some point set it as an ATC with the setup routine? C8 isn't what you want to use for Safe Z setting. Perhaps go back through the tool setup and reconfigure it (Tools/ShopBot setup) to make sure it's not set for ATC if it isn't an ATC.

Really though, if you have a Z prox, having the Z axis go to full height is a better choice, and then your safe z is set in your design software.
