14" Z axis?

I wonder what those who have the 14" Z axis are doing with the capacity. I have a need to progressively carve deep reliefs in HDPE- 7" would be great -though I suppose the reach will be limited by what the largest collet will accommodate. What's your experience?

I have a 12" model (2013) and it has a lot of uses. A long end mill into thick material is the best use. Flattening a thick piece of lumber is another. I'm sure there's a stability cost but it doesn't affect what I do.
