    Default New indexer problem

Yesterday I turned a 1.375" dia x 9" long piece of softwood to 1.25" dia. I had trimed the corners to an octagon shape so the cut was very light. The cut went as expected. Next I used Aspire to create a spiral cut along the same piece. The tool ran as expected.
Today I set up to turn a 2.375" dia x 14" long piece of softwood to a 2.35" dia. I had trimed
the corners to an octagon shape so the cut was very light.
The cut started out fine but after a few passes along the X axis the rotary tool reversed rotation. After that it reversed again and again. I had to stop.
I shut everyting down, rebooted my laptop and tried again. Same results.
Is the problem with the indexer? What else could it be?

I contacted Shopbot Tech support. We went through a series of troubleshooting and determined that the indexer was the root of the problem. I returned it, glad I purchased though Amazon. I have a replaceent coming tomorrow.
I very pleased with Shopbot tech support and glad for Amazon.
