Copy machine question.

I would like to change the direction the probe moves. Right now it probes along the x-axis. I need it probe along the y. Is there any way to do this? I'm trying to get section profiles along the length of a long part.
I posted this question in another area before I realized this was a more appropriate place for this question. Sorry for the double post.
