    Default Do Not Go Home

    How can I have Aspire start the cut program without first jogging to home position? (I know I can do it by editing the .sbp file, but can I tell Aspire not to do it?)

    Thanks

    Tom,

    This is controlled by the post processor, not Aspire. You can edit it out. If you haven't worked with a post processor before, I recommend you go to the following link, download and read the .pdf file that Mark from Vectric put together.

    Steve,

    I still want the machine to have a constant(and reliable)home position, but just not go there before (and after) each job.

    you just need to change the home position in aspire. this will not change the home position on your machine. when you type jh the machine will still go back to the 0,0 you have set.
    the machine will park where you want when it is done running the toolpath and will show the offset on the readout.

    Tom;
    you can also edit the post processor that you are using to have the following footer;

    begin FOOTER
    ""
    "JZ,[ZH]"
    "'Shutting spindle down"
    "SO,1,0"
    ""
    "'Press (ENTER) to jog X=[XH] Y=[YH] or (CANCEL) to stay here"
    "pause"
    ""
    "J2,[XH],[YH]"

    This will give you a chance to see where it is going to jog to before it happens. It will not start the jog until you agree to it by hitting "enter".
    I like this option because I will sometimes temporarily reset my X and Y zero locations to use an older carving file on another part of the table. I have forgotten to pre check where it was going to jog home to and hit my stop switches at jog speed - no damage done, but not pretty! This way I see that jogging to 40,40 will not be good if I am zeroed somewhere in the middle of the table. I just hit cancel and go from there

    As always - if you are not comfortable editing a post processor don't do it - or have someone check it for you!
