Default A curve instead of a straight line

I have a .dxf file for generating boat planks, originated in SolidWorks, and saved as V.12. The planks are cut into three pieces, and have a diagonal scarf such as would be used on a teak deck. The ends of the scarfs are cut at a right angle to the diagonal with a 1/4" radius where it mates with the adjoining piece at the corner, and is square where it meets the edge. This makes an elongated S shape with the diagonal.
When it cuts some of these ends, it comes out right with a radius and a short straight section. On other ends it puts an arc at the end instead of the straight section to the edge of the plank, which does not mate with the adjoining plank section.
    Any idea what's going on?
