RPM's for cuttig 3/4" melamine at 8 ips with a 2 flute mortise compression bit? At 6 ips, I've had very good results at 13K RPM, but I'm having a tough time dialing things in at the faster feed speed. Thanks.

Using percentage rule of thumb, would mean if you increase move speed by 33% also increase rpm by 33%. This should keep chipload fairly consistant. Try 17.3K rpm as a starting point. (6/8 = 1.33 , 1.33* 13K = 17.3K)

Thanks Gary. I was wondering if it was directly proportional, and it sounds like it might be.
Not following that logic, and grasping for straws, I tried 14K and 14.5K, both with poor results. I'll try the 17.3K and would guess that will do it.
Thanks again,
Nat

Make sure you try going both up and down until you can hear the "sweet spot". A double check with the mic will confirm.
