    Default Spindle Control Boards

I'm looking into getting the HSD Spindle Control Board for my 4hp spindle

    Is it really useful?

I'd like some input from you guys who have been using it,before I get one.

    Thanks

Very useful. I love the ability to change RPM's mid file... in fact I depend on it. I predrill, cut from 2 ips due to small curves and run at 12 ips running small shallow grooves. I need vastly different RPM's on the same bit to accomplish this.

It makes a warm up routine a snap!

It makes changing to a desired RPM as simple as 10000 Enter. No running numbers up and down on the VFD.

In short, I love mine, wouldn't go back.

    Dave & Erminio,
I'm with RB on this one. I installed the controller on my Buddy 48 a few months ago and am very glad I did. You can turn the spindle on and off using the TR command as well as change the rpms. For example TR,12000,1 will turn it on at 12000 rpms and TR,00,1 will turn it off. It's a good idea to follow the TR,12000,1 command with a 1-2 second pause to let the spindle come up to speed before starting the cut. The only issue I have found so far is that you will have to manually add the TR,00,1 command to the end of your post processor file. That's a minor inconvience but sure wish there was a way to customize the post processor so that's no longer necessary. Maybe one of the experts out there has the answer.

Does the control board work on a standard BT-48?

I just got one too, they are sweet! I did notice that with the rpm window open ( not the fill in sheet ) if you enter 0, it stops, and above that starts it. I didn't read the instructions so maybe thats not the right way to do it, but it worked.
