Default What are good bits to use when v-carving Aluminum and Brass?

Hey all, we're getting into some signmaking for a client where we'll need to do some fine engraving of brass plates, and some v-carving of aluminum and brass for a nice beveled edge. I've just been running test cuts with standard solid carbide 90 and 60 degree bits that are meant for wood and/or plastic. It works, but it does wear the point of the bits down some. Anyone know of a supplier that carries v-bits that are made for carving metal instead?

    For fine engraving of aluminum/brass
Onsrud, tip size .005 through to .090 on V60° same tip sizes for the V30° 1/4" shanks & 2" OAL
You can look them up part #'s 37-00 series and 37-20 series most run $18.30 ea or $128 for the set

Gary, thanks! I saw those bits after I posted here, but it's great to hear that they are the way to go. We've had good luck with Onsrud's aluminum cutting up spirals in the past.

    Jeff,
For engraving AL & brass I use Micro100 brand engraving tools. The ones I use have .005" knocked off the tip. http://www.micro100.com/

If you are going to v-carve AL or you just need a good strong robust bit for bevelling, a mill/drill is hard to beat. It is solid carbide & ground to EXACTLY 90 or 120° depending on what your needs are. They are not cheap, but they go the distance.
