    Default Sign finishing advice

I dont make signs normally but I have one I need to make so I need some help. Its going to be pretty simple and just V Carved. Is there a good way to mask the sign to paint the lettering? Im assuming you paint the sign then paint the letters... right? Is there a better way? Like I said. Im not a sign guy so I dont want to kill it at the last coat of paint.

Brian, for simple V-Carved signs we like using adhesive shelf paper for a simple mask (Wal-Mart is cheap). Paint (or other finish) material, apply shelf paper, use a roller (like for laminate) to press it down for a tight seal, V-carve away. Paint carved area, pull off mask. There are alot of really cool methods as mentioned. We like this for simple signs, we sell alot at craft Fairs and farmers markets. Hope this helps.
