Mounting the Stepper Motors

I have gotten to the point where I am mounting the stepper motors. Per the instructions I installed the pinion gears flush with the end of the motor shaft. How much of the gear should engage the rack gears? As assembled I am seeing only about 2/3 to 3/4 engagement, so I sneaked a peek at the z-axis motor. Its pinion appears to fully engage its rack, so should I ease the pinions out to fully engage the rack or leave them flush with the end of the shaft?

I am not sure what is recommended, but moving the pinion out for full engagement is the option I selected.

Thanks Gary. There is no specific recommendation in the manual that I can find, but another 'bot owner told me offline that he did the same thing as you did, and it's working fine 3 years later.
