    Default Rail bolts too long.

The bolts for mounnting the X travel rails are too long. As is, they bottom out in the extruded aluminum approx. 3/32" before the rail meets the aluminum. In the "Rail Hardware Pack" bag there are what I imagine thin plastic shims but no where near enough to do the job. There is no mention of these shims in the assembly manual. The gap is large enough I could stuff a 1/2" flat washer in-between the bottom of the rail and the top of the aluminum and that will take up enough space so the bolts tighten and hold the rail firmly in place. Grind the bolts? ShopBot not open until 9:00 Monday :-(

    Bill...
I remember a post about having 3/4" instead of 5/8" bolts for that application. I am not sure of the lengths, but I do remember the solution was a call or email to SB Tech Supt and the correct ones will be in hand ASAP.

Thanks gary ... I'll get that e-mail off ASAP. The hard part will be waiting until the right bolts get here. :-( If that is the issue... I could run out tomorrow and try to find the right length. What do you think? Grind what I have down? I hate to wait... too close :-)

    BIll..
If you can find the RIGHT bolts, there should be no problem. If I remember right, they are socket head cap screws. They are sometimes hard to find in 1/8 increments. Take one of the ones you have and go for it. I would be hard pressed to wait. Good Luck.

    Hi Bill,

Sorry to hear about the bolt problem. We did have a batch that were the wrong length several months back. I thought we had sorted that out.

We'll overnight the correct ones on Monday if you were not able to come up with them.

    Ted,
Unable to get the bolts local. They stock in length steps of 1/4". Did not want to grind or shim... gonna do it right. I'll just have to wait.
    Thanks,
    Bill
