Default 3D deer in the works. Live video stream.

    Greeting Botters,

I am currently working on two 3D deer that will be shipping to New York for a customer. I drew it up in Aspire and slices the layers into 2" thick slabs. These deer will be made with Styrofoam, plastic coated and painted to look gold. Since the files take so long to cut I decided to hook up a video stream so I could work in the office while it was cutting. If you would like to watch it work here is the link to the feed. http://www.stickam.com/viewJoin.do?uId=178748134

    Enjoy,

where's the dancin' girls? I'm going to have to try some designs in foam. If i get this house project going one of the things i thought of for foam use would be ceiling medallions. I'd like to see this project when finished.

Thanks for the new link, Glen! If I had to join one more thing, I think I would go crazy (Too late, I know!). They look great so far! Can't wait to see them finished!

Nice work, and thanks for the show!

    Question: Why no dust collection?

Nice set up Glen. I have a similar set-up (not a web cam). I have a security camera on the bot with the monitor in the office. I turn the volume up just enough that I can hear if something changes. Good way to keep an eye on big jobs and still get other work done.

Several reasons I don't have my dust collection on.
    1. Noise. With the collector off it is nice and quite.
    2. I don't want the parts scratched by the dust hood on the bot.
    3. Electricity $$$, I am a tightwad.
    4. I don't want my parts in the dust bin. My collector is an Oneida 5hp. Will suck the paint off your car....ok, maybe not.

I will be streaming video again all day on Wednesday. Be sure to check in.

    Glen,
I toured your website. Very cool!
Never made it to the deer thing as it got to complicated to log in.
Plastic coatings are applied to your foam carvings.
How is this done? What materials are used?
I'm picturing a spray bed liner affair???

Do you use Streamline automation tables for foam cutting??

I'm with Chuck on the subject of plastic coatings. How's it done and what materials.
